Second KIRAT Workshop 26-28 June 2009

The Second KIRAT workshop took place in collaboration with IAP and PCATP between 26-28 June 2009 at KIRAT Campus, Chattar Mansehra District for architects and architectural students. The theme of the workshop: Architects and Post Disaster Development aimed to explore opportunities in mud and lime construction, heritage and conservation and brainstorm the potential for further community development programs in the earthquake affected area. Workshop participants included representativesfrom IAP, PCATP,architects in private practice and government departments as well as faculty members and Architecture students from COMSATS Islamabad and NCA Rawalpindi.

 

Karachi Municipal Archival Record

Heritage Foundation has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Embassy of Netherlands to clean, repair and preserve the archival material of the City Disrict Governemnt Karachi (CDGK). The present duration of the project is one year and has been set up on the ground floor of the CDGK Naib Nazim's office, M.A. Jinnah Road, Karachi. The record contains documents, ledgers, papers and archival maps dating back to the late 19th century and is thus of extreme value in tracing the development of the dynamic city of Karachi.

Heritage Preservation Centre

Heritage Preservation Centre (HPC) has been established in partnership with Earthquake Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Authority (ERRA) in order to catalogue and document heritage assets in the earthquake affected areas. The HPC is part of KaravanPakistan Institute for Research and Training (KIRAT) at the KIRAT Campus, Heritage Foundation Base Camp, Chattar, District Mansehra.

First HPCP Newsletter

This is the first newsletter after the establishment of the Heritage Preservation Centre at the KIRAT Campus, Heritage Foundation Base Camp in Chattar to begin cataloguing and documentation of heritage assets in the earthquake affected areas of Hazara and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
