Production of Makli Commune Tiles

The kashi (glazed creamics) production that was begun at the HF/UNESCO Kashi Atelier set up in the Buffer Zone of Makli World Heritage for conservation of historic monuments, is the basis for another track of glazed ceramics work.

HF’s Zero Carbon Cultural Centre (ZC3) has been set up for the production of 4” Makli Commune tiles by women of neighbouring villages.

UNESCO Consultant Visits Makli Kashi Atelier

Mr. Rand Eppich, UNESCO Consultant, is visiting Makli World Heritage on invitation from Department of Culture, Archaeology and Tourism, Government of Sindh. Accompanied by CEO, Architect Yasmeen Lari, on 23rd January 2018, he visited Makli Kashi Atelier developed by Heritage Foundation with support from UNESCO World Heritage Centre for the production of kashi (glazed tiles). The project is a part of the Republic of Korea/Funds in Trust for revival of ancient glazed tiles in Sindh.
