National Register: Historic Places of Pakistan; Walled City Of Peshawar
'Peshawar Walled City, due to its cultural landscape and unique architectural character, is considered a viable candidate for inclusion on UNESCO's World Heritage List. However, in order to develop a potent case and to undertake systematic conservation, it is essential to document the cultural assets that it posesses. The UNDP-UNESCO-GoP project on Cultural Tourism for Lahore and Peshawar has provided the background through research and experts' review of various aspects of tangible and intangible heritage, archeology, tourism, arts and crafs etc. The ensuing report has has identified several outputs and flagship actions which can contribute to the rejuvenation of the city, rehabilitation of its tangible heritage and revitalisation of its arts and crafts and intangible sources. The report has emhasised immediate action for safeguarding and conservation of heritage and development of urban infrastructure for the encouragement of cultural tourism, which is likely to ensure sustainability of heritage assets of the walled city.'
